Shim-pack UC columns are silica based and can run at higher flow rates due to the low viscosity of the supercritical CO2 and modifier mobile phase. The ODS phase uses a reversed phase separation mode and retention is achieved through hydrophobic interaction, so it is recommended for nonpolar and alkyl compounds.
